A Partnership Model Designed for Progress
Our collaborations are designed to deliver clear scientific outcomes at each stage of development. From early discovery through to formulation and clinical readiness, partners contribute targeted expertise that strengthens data quality, improves decision-making, and supports efficient program advancement.
This model enables Lateral Pharma to progress multiple therapeutic opportunities while maintaining scientific rigour and development discipline.
Strategic Collaborators
Expanding Discovery Through Research Partnerships
Lateral Pharma collaborates with leading research institutions, clinical experts, and industry partners to expand the reach and impact of our platform. These partnerships enable access to specialised capabilities, advanced disease models, and translational expertise that strengthen the development of our therapeutic programs.
Our collaborative approach has supported key advances across neuropathic pain, neurodegenerative disease, infectious respiratory conditions, and Healthspan, including preclinical and clinical studies that demonstrate the potential of LanCL-targeting therapies to reduce inflammation, protect tissue, and improve patient outcomes.
By working with partners who share our commitment to innovation and scientific rigour, we are accelerating the translation of our breakthrough discovery into therapeutics which address areas of high unmet medical need.
Our Research Collaborators
Associate Professor Michelle Tate
Associate Professor Michelle Tate is Deputy Head of the Centre for Innate Immunity and Infectious Disease at the Hudson Institute of Medical Research. Her work focuses on understanding how respiratory viruses drive hyperinflammation and disease. Lateral Pharma has collaborated with Associate Proffessor Tate’s team for several years, generating preclinical evidence supporting the potential of its SCP drugs in treating lung infections caused by viral and bacterial pathogens.
Professor Michael Heneka
Professor Michael Heneka is a clinician-scientist recognised for his research in neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative disease. Since January 2022, he has served as Director of the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) at the University of Luxembourg. Lateral Pharma is collaborating with Prof Heneka’s team on preclinical studies investigating whether its SCP drugs may play a role in delaying or preventing Alzheimer’s disease.
Monash Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre
Lateral Pharma has collaborated with the Monash Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre (MMIC) for several years. This partnership has supported the development of the LAT8881 formulation used in the Phase 1b sciatica clinical trial, as well as ongoing work on the formulation of LAT9997.
Evotec
Evotec is Lateral Pharma’s preferred partner for drug discovery research. This collaboration has contributed to key experiments that helped identify the LanCL target and understand how Lateral’s SCP drugs interact with this pathway.
How We Work With Our Partners
A Network That Extends Capability
Each collaboration adds a distinct layer of capability to our pipeline, whether in drug discovery, disease modelling, manufacturing, or clinical translation.
Rather than duplicating capability, we work with partners who bring depth in specific areas of science and development. This approach allows us to focus on our core platform while ensuring each program benefits from the best available expertise.
Together, these partnerships form a practical and scalable development network that supports the continued expansion of our therapeutic programs.
