Stuart Mudge is a molecular and biological scientist with more than 25 years’ experience in the biopharmaceutical sector, spanning consulting and operational leadership across emerging, internationally focused biotechnology companies. His career has centred on commercialising science and translating innovation into tangible health outcomes, while aligning with corporate and institutional objectives.

As Chief Operating Officer at Lateral Pharma, Stuart manages the company’s day-to-day operations and oversees organisational development and growth, ensuring strategic milestones are achieved. A key contributor to Lateral Pharma’s mission, he is passionate about advancing novel therapeutic targets and addressing unmet medical needs, with a strong emphasis on Australian innovation and intellectual property.

Throughout his career, Stuart has led cross-functional teams responsible for achieving marketing approvals in the USA and Europe and played instrumental roles in mergers and acquisitions involving product franchises and manufacturing sites. Guided by integrity, innovation, and a science-driven mindset, he combines strategic foresight with a collaborative, execution-focused approach.

Outside of biotechnology, Stuart enjoys spending time with family and friends, supporting his two sons, and staying active through sport. He is also passionate about music and reading – pursuits which expand his mind and mirror his thoughtful, balanced approach to leadership.
